Hahnemuhle Photo Rag has a very good combination of gamut and d-max with both dye and pigment inks. It’s everything you want in a fine art matte paper – acid free, cotton rag, (its also available in other weights, and double sided).
It’s surface is relatively smooth, not 100% perfectly smooth like a hot pressed paper but smooth enough that it’s very, very slight texture does not interfere with image detail. It is a little more expensive than some papers, but in this case you certainly get what you pay for – a paper of superb quality capable of producing excellent photographic results that will outlast us all, when combined with the latest pigment inksets such as the Epson Ultrachrome inks.
